The Role

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Hackney is seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join their site team on a full-time basis.

The successful School Caretaker will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, security, and general upkeep of the school premises. You will ensure the school environment remains safe, clean, and fully operational for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Duties will include carrying out minor repairs, opening and locking the school, monitoring health and safety across the site, overseeing contractors, setting up rooms for school events, and reporting any maintenance issues. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure the school is maintained to a high standard at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience working as a School Caretaker, Site Manager, or Facilities Assistant, ideally within a school environment.

Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.

A strong understanding of health and safety procedures.

Ability to carry out minor repairs and basic maintenance tasks.

Reliable, organised, and able to work independently.

Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
